What Have You Done For Me Lately?

My SEO guru Neil Patel would balk at my non-SEO optimized blog post titles. They’re mostly random or in this case, a phrase that got stuck in my head after listening to Janet Jackson while working out on the treadmill. And by working out I mean sort of shuffling really slowly while drinking a latte and reading David Sedaris’ new book: Let’s Explore Diabetes with Owls. ( Question to myself: How does one cultivate the talent of writing mean thoughts that elicits so much laughter?)

So anyway, July 4th is coming and no matter what your patriotic sentiments are (or aren’t), a nation’s Independence Day is usually a rallying cause for celebration of well… Independence.

And coupled with that Janet Jackson song that just won’t stop playing over and over in my head, I’ve decided to compile a guide of 20 of the best apps out there that would really increase anyone’s productivity and thus in theory, would mean more freedom from work. Sounds goods?

I use most of the apps myself and the rest were recommended by really high-powered super-efficient friends of mine. What do you think? Love ’em or hate ’em, let me know in the comments section below.

Some people take SEO overboard. I think it’s important to know the basics, but if you have a great title and a keyword just doesn’t fit, then you shouldn’t sacrifice the quality of your content.

  8. Wow, there’s an app for everything I need here in my fortress of solitude! I meant, my cubicle in the office. Boomerangmail – well, I’m already using that, as well as getpocket and Bufferapp. The others are worth taking a look. This is going to be a great day, thanks!

  9. Thanks for sending that pdf / list of apps! I’m crying out loud because I think I am missing a lot of apps out there! I hope you won’t laugh at me; on your list, I think I’m only familiar with Fandango, which I use constantly for movie listings and reviews. I think I have a miserable online life… 😀

  10. haven’t really used any of the apps mentioned on the list. but i’m taking a chance on them. I can see that I am going to need the Yelp in the near future, especially in my office where I mostly deal with small businesses. thanks so much..

For someone like me who loves movies and entertainment, Fandango is a must have app. Although a few years ago, I was loyal to my Moviefone app. Thanks for sharing this, Heidi.

  13. I downloaded the PDF and it was really informative. Among the apps that I’ve been using (and are really useful to me) are the following: Dropbox, hazel and wunderlist. I’ll check out the others – most of them are really so new to me. Thanks!
